Promise Council welcomed Dr. Barry M. Reilly to serve as its first Executive Director on March 1, 2025. Dr. Reilly brings a wealth of leadership experience to the role. With a distinguished career in education spanning more than three decades, Dr. Reilly has dedicated his professional life to fostering student success and removing barriers to learning. Prior to joining the Promise Council, he served as Superintendent of Bloomington Public School District 87 for 12 years, where he was responsible for improving student achievement, strengthening community partnerships, and ensuring strong financial and facility management. His extensive background also includes seven years as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and 13 years in high school administration, including four years as principal of Bloomington High School.
Dr. Reilly’s deep commitment to education extends beyond his leadership roles in schools. He has been actively involved in numerous professional and community organizations, serving on boards for Heartland Community College, OSF Healthcare, and Easterseals of Central Illinois, among others. His leadership in these organizations has focused on advocating for equitable educational opportunities and community development. Throughout his career, he has received multiple accolades, including induction into the Bloomington District 87 Hall of Fame and recognition as the Illinois Association of School Administrators Corn Belt Division Superintendent of Distinction.
As the first Executive Director of the Promise Council, Dr. Reilly is committed to expanding the organization's impact by strengthening community engagement and mobilizing resources to support students in need. His passion for eliminating barriers to education aligns perfectly with the Promise Council’s mission of ensuring all students have the support they need to succeed. With his leadership, the organization is poised to deepen its influence and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and families across the community.
