Sarah Edwards brings over three decades of dedication to education and student success. As the Principal of Grove Elementary in Unit 5 Schools, she has spent her career advocating for children and ensuring that every student has the support they need to thrive. A three-time graduate of Illinois State University, Sarah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, and a Superintendent Endorsement. Her passion for removing barriers to education has been a driving force throughout her career, earning her the prestigious Those Who Excel Award of Excellence for School Administrator from the State of Illinois in 2015.
Sarah has a long history of leadership and community involvement, including serving on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois and maintaining active membership in both the Illinois Principals Association and the National Association of Elementary Principals. Notably, she was a founding member of the first Promise Council at Pepper Ridge Elementary School in Unit 5, playing a key role in shaping the organization’s mission and impact. Her deep understanding of the council’s history and purpose makes her an invaluable addition to the board, as she continues her lifelong commitment to supporting students and families.
As she prepares for retirement in June, Sarah remains dedicated to making a difference through the Promise Council. Her extensive experience in education, combined with her firsthand knowledge of the challenges students face, equips her to be a powerful advocate for equitable access to learning. She is excited to continue serving the community in this new capacity, ensuring that the Promise Council remains a strong and effective force in helping students succeed.
